Frequently asked questions

Clear answers about purchases, delivery, returns and organisation collections. Where a collection or product states specific terms, those details take priority.

Customer questions

What is Made to Belong?

Made to Belong creates everyday merchandise with organisations, causes and communities. Each collection gives supporters something meaningful to wear while helping the participating organisation build visibility and sustainable support.

How does my purchase support a cause?

Each collection identifies the participating organisation and the approved contribution model. Contributions are recorded from qualifying sales after cancellations, refunds and any agreed exclusions.

How much goes to the organisation?

The approved amount or calculation is shown on the relevant collection or product page once confirmed. If it is not displayed, please contact us before ordering.

Are products made to order?

Some products are produced to order or in small batches. The product page and order confirmation will state the applicable production information.

How long will delivery take?

Production time and courier time are separate. The current production estimate is provided for the item, and courier delivery begins only after dispatch.

Where do you deliver?

Available destinations and delivery charges are shown at checkout. If your address is not accepted, please contact us before ordering.

How do I track my order?

When tracking is available, we send the tracking details after your order has been dispatched.

Can I exchange a size?

Please contact us promptly with your order number. Eligibility depends on the item, its condition and available replacement stock.

Can I return a personalised product?

Personalised or custom-made products generally cannot be returned for a change of mind. This does not limit your rights if an item is faulty or incorrect.

What happens if my item is faulty?

Contact us with your order number and clear photographs. We will assess the issue and arrange the appropriate remedy in line with applicable consumer law.

Are the products locally made?

Product pages identify the production information that has been confirmed for that item. We only make local-production claims where the supplier model supports them.

Can I buy from outside South Africa?

International availability is shown at checkout. If your destination is unavailable, please contact us before placing an order.

Is my purchase a donation?

No. It is a merchandise purchase linked to an approved contribution for the organisation behind the collection.

Will I receive a Section 18A certificate?

Merchandise purchases are generally not treated as qualifying donations. A certificate will only be provided where eligibility has been expressly confirmed by the participating organisation and the applicable legal and finance teams.

Organisation questions

Who can create a collection?

NGOs, charities and cause-led communities with a clear story, an engaged supporter base and the capacity to participate in design approval and launch promotion can apply.

Is there an upfront cost?

The commercial arrangement is confirmed after the application and discovery process. No cost or fee should be assumed until it is agreed in writing.

Does the organisation need to hold stock?

The model aims to avoid unnecessary stock burden through small-batch or made-to-order production where agreed. The final approach depends on the products and supplier model.

Who manages customer service?

Made to Belong coordinates ecommerce, order processing and customer communication. Responsibilities are confirmed before launch.

How are designs approved?

Product concepts, messages, artwork and samples move through a shared approval process before the collection goes live.

How are contributions calculated?

The amount or formula is agreed in writing before launch and reflected in the approved customer-facing wording.

How often are contributions paid?

The payment and reporting schedule is set out in the organisation agreement before the collection launches.

Who owns the designs?

Ownership and permitted use of brand assets, artwork and product designs are confirmed in the written agreement.

What marketing support is provided?

Made to Belong prepares the storefront and agreed launch assets. Participating organisations also promote the collection through their own supporter channels.

How long does launch take?

Timing depends on assets, product development, sampling, approvals and storefront setup. A realistic launch plan is agreed after the discovery session.
